Looking through a list of upcoming releases in the UK for this autumn (i.e. October and November because labels don't really release in December), it's setting up to be one of the busiest release periods for quite some time. And I'm not talking about the quantity of albums, rather the sheer magnitude of some of the names involved. Of course, neither of those factors mean you'll necessarily like any of the impending releases, but there's no denying the gravity of some of these names...
U2, The Killers, Snow Patrol, Razorlight, Kasabian, Oasis, Metallica, AC/DC, Keane. And that's just the rock and monster-indie crowd. What really struck me was that a lot of those are all part of the same label group (Universal) and you'd have to imagine the bosses over that way not being quite sure what to do with this double edged sword. On the one hand, that's a lot of massive albums for one demographic to choose from, but on the other, in these days of record sales doom and gloom, you'd be mad to push any of these back to 2009.
Oh, and it's not all about the rock - Beyonce, a J Lo greatest hits, Will Young and Tom Jones are all set to release too. Oh, and Grace Jones. Brace yourself people.
