The Word magazine's 10 Best CDs of 2008

The Word have slightly bucked the trend for end of year polls and dispensed with the countdown style chart that most places do and instead just lumped their ten best CDs together.

First of all, I'm not really sure why they've decided on their favourite "CDs", as opposed to albums. Seems a little dated, but there you go. So here they are...

Martha Wainwright - I Know You're Married But I Have Feelings Too
British Sea Power - Do You Like Rock Music?
Punch Brothers - Punch
Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago
MGMT - Oracular Spectacular
Roots Manuva - Slime & Reason
Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid
The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age Of The Understatement
The Stills - Oceans Will Rise
David Byrne & Brian Eno - Everything That Happens Will Happen Today

The big surprise here is that Fleet Foxes didn't make their top 10, especially because in the issue of The Word that this appeared in, they interviewed five acts, FF being one of them. To be fair, none of the others that they interviewed made their top 10 cut either (Damon Albarn, Ting Tings, Girls Aloud and Seasick Steve).
