Anniversary Special

I got married five years ago today, and although that's more important than anything to do with music, I couldn't help myself in thinking of a couple of music related things that I could do to mark the special occasion.

This was our first dance...

And this was our last dance (we were indulgent like that)...

Instead of the usual gifts for people on the table (you know, sugared almonds and stuff like that), we decided that a CD would be a nice gift, so we put our heads together and came up with a couple of compilations, one for the younger types who liked some of the hip new sounds of today, and one aimed more at the parents, aunts and uncles. People seemed to like them and of course I kept a copy for us, so here's the tracklisting...

The Black Album
1. The Stone Roses - She Bangs The Drums
2. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Universally Speaking
3. Queens Of The Stone Age - No One Knows
4. Foo Fighters - Learn To Fly
5. R.E.M. - The Great Beyond
6. Phoenix - Too Young
7. Paul Nero - This Is Soul
8. Jurassic 5 - Jayou
9. Beastie Boys - Intergalactic
10. Dr. Dre - The Next Episode
11. Eve Feat Gwen Stefani - Let Me Blow Ya Mind
12. Snoop Doog Feat Pharrell - Beautiful
13. Air - All I Need
14. Neil Young - Harvest Moon

The White Album
1. The Beatles - I Feel Fine
2. Andy Williams - Can't Take My Eyes Off You
3. Sam Cooke - (What A) Wonderful World
4. Michael Jackson - Ain't No Sunshine
5. Johnny Cash - One
6. Jimmy Eat World - Hear You Me
7. Foo Fighters - Walking After You
8. Eagles - Hotel California
9. Aerosmith - Crazy
10. Elton John - Tiny Dancer
11. Bing Crosby - Moonlight Becomes You
12. Django Reinhardt - Limehouse Blues
13. The Dave Brubeck Quartet - Blue Rondo A La Turk
14. Neil Young - Harvest Moon

Of course, I'm not sure that half a decade on we'd necessarily choose the same tracks now but I stand by the selection of the time, bearing in mind that we wanted to appeal to some extent to all of our guests. Think it's time we gave them a spin and see whether they'll last us through the next five years too.
