The Legacy of The White Stripes

The legacy of the White Stripes is not, in fact, music.

It is not in making the theft of black music fashionable again (reminds me of that Monty Burns quote "well, for once the rich white man is in control").

It is not dressing in only two colours at any one time.

It is not pretending your sister is your wife or your wife is your sister or that any other member of your band is anything more than a member of your band.

It is none of these things. It is their name. It's finally become clear to me - the true legacy of the White Stripes is in the current army of new bands that are calling themselves the White something-or-others.

There are probably many, many more than those below, but these are the ones off the top of my head. And five new bands more than proves the point I think.
