You know when those funny coincidences happen, when you didn't know something, or hadn't heard of something, and then as soon as it's been brought to your attention, you see it in a second place? That happened yesterday, where in the morning I read about something in Uncut magazine, and then in the afternoon while flicking through the Guardian newspaper, the same thing was the subject of a feature in their arts pages.
The topic in question is one Richard Ayoade, who you're probably most familiar with as Moss from The IT Crowd (above). He went to Cambridge (which is probably neither here nor there) and is also going to be the only member of the British cast of The IT Crowd to play his character in the US version of the show. Anyway, I digress.
Musically speaking, he's of interest because as well as his acting and comedy day-job he's directed several music videos, including The Last Shaddow Puppets' Standing Next To Me, Arctic Monkeys' Fluorescent Adolescent, Vampire Weekend's Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa and Super Furry Animals' Run Away.
In my book that's pretty impressive. Well done Richard, well done indeed.
